Mr Popa reviewed my case and we had a consultation over the phone and in person about what was wrong and what was needed to be done. I needed lumbar decompression surgery and I explained to the DR how much pain I had been in for the past year and half , when dr popa seen my stenosis he explained I needed surgery and thoroughly informed me what would happen and what my options where . I have now had this surgery and mr popa reassured me throughout he hopes this will be the only one , the relief I have had since surgery is magnificent, the moment I could walk post surgery has been unbelievable and life changing for myself thanks to Dr popa . He has reviewed me post surgery and recommended physio to stretch and strengthen my back . I am very appreciative of DR popa and his skills and expertise because without him life was unbearable and painful he is very experienced and reassuring.

After some months of disabling pain in my left leg, with visits to surgery physiotherapist and Gp phone conversations giving no clue as to the cause I decided to go to my AXA insurance company.. I chose the local Spire Wirral Hospital and selected Mr Popa from the list of spinal surgeons. Within 2. Weeks I had a consultation, a diagnostic MRI and a further consultation. Mr Popa explained that I had a spinal stenosis and cyst on my lumber vertebrae 4/5. He suggested a decompression operation. I naively asked if he had done many such operations and he replied “Yes many of them “ ! Christmas delayed my admission but 6 weeks later it was all done. I had complete trust in Mr Popa,his anaesthetist Mr Devlin and the nursing team. I was in hospital for one night and the recovery has gone well.The leg pain has completely gone. There has been excellent after care from the Physiotherapy department. I know there is still some time before I will feel fully active again but it is such a relief to be able to walk without a stick.

Mr Popa quickly made a diagnosis of spinal stenosis to explain my chronic back pain and numb feet. He explained in detail the recommended posterior spinal decompression operation.Surgery was carried out promptly and efficiently with excellent results
